On behalf of the staff at A.L. Horton Elementary, welcome to the 2023-2024 school year. Our vision is to connect with each student to foster the minds and hearts of leaders.
This year we focus on small group math and writing instruction to engage learners. Another focus area is fostering appreciation of our diversity. Our students, families, and staff members speak a variety of languages, have ancestry here and around the world, and observe many cultural traditions. We look forward to learning more about our differences and all the ways we are similar, together.
See photos and highlights of learning and leadership around the school by following us on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. Watch your email for a link to the school newsletter featuring School Council, the Friends of A.L. Horton fundraising society, celebrations, upcoming events, and student and adult learning opportunities.
This spring we mark 45 years of Ukrainian language instruction at the school (1979 - 2024). Over one hundred students are currently enrolled in the Ukrainian Language & Cultural Program in kindergarten through grade six. We are proud to continue this legacy and honour the ancestry of this area.
We will also be learning from the land this year as we honour the indigenous ancestry of Treaty 6 territory. Walk with us as we learn more with knowledge keepers, elders, and consultants.
If you have questions, please call us at 780-632-3113 or email us at the school. You can view our daily video announcements on Youtube to see what's happening each day.
We look forward to connecting with you this year.
